Go, Diego, Go!
Go, Diego, Go! is literally the 'cousin' to the Dora the Explorer interactive educational television series on which Diego first appeared, and in my opinion, has gone above and beyond its predecessor. Despite early differences, the potential for the character and stories we now know and love was there from the very first Dora episode "Meet Diego!"
Eight-year-old Diego Marquez is a hero with a genuine love and respect for nature and animals. He's adventurous, spirited, driven, confident, fearless, and kind. In the Latin American rainforest, he and and his family run an animal rescue center, where they treat sick and injured animals, then return them to the wild. Joined by his equally-devoted sister Alicia and his best friend Baby Jaguar, Diego is always there to help out animals in trouble.
On his missions, Diego also gets help from his transforming Rescue Pack and Click the Camera. He often meets up with friends including Linda the llama, Sammy the sloth, Tuga the leatherback sea turtle, the Bobo Brothers (those naughty monkeys!), and sometimes even his cousin Dora. Some of the animals he's helped include kinkajous, iguanas, penguins, anacondas, spectacled bears, armadillos, tapirs, hawks, river dolphins, chinchillas, tree frogs, pigmy marmosets, butterflies, and so many more.
While saving the day, Diego teaches viewers all about the animals and their rainforest environment, all through the native language Spanish. Diego's travels now also take him all over the world including the Arctic, Africa, China, Madagascar, Canada, etc. where he helps us to understand the importance of protecting both animals and the places they call home through the most important lesson of all...our hero's compassion for all living creatures.
